Seasonal allergies are just the worst! The sneezing seems endless. The itchy, puffy, watery eyes are repugnant and the coughing and wheezing always seem to ruin a perfectly good day. In order to avoid a horrific experience this allergy season follow these tips and tricks to surviving allergy season. Outdoor allergies are insufferable – from the grass to the trees, pollen is everywhere! To avoid the inevitable allergic reaction try to stay in on days where the pollen count is extremely high. Avoiding the allergen is one of the key steps in coping with allergy season.
If you must be outside to work on the garden or mow the lawn, be sure to wear a mask, as that will prevent you from inhaling any potential allergens that will trigger your immune system’s response. On days that you are out and about, be sure to wash your hair that night. Pollen can get stuck in our hair, especially when we are using beauty products such as hair sprays or gel. Washing out the pollen in the shower prevents us from spreading pollen throughout our homes, and sleeping on it with our pillows and sheets.
Since pollen can also stick to our noses, it is very important that we clean out our nasal passages often. Using a saline spray can help prevent the pollen from further disrupting our nasal passageway and rid our bodies of any constant allergy triggers. Taking extra care this allergy season can help make the time being much more bearable.
